Is Your Past Still Hurting You?

Unhealed childhood trauma might be the reason.

I know—it’s uncomfortable to talk about. But it’s still a big elephant in the room, and it’s not going anywhere unless we decide to face it. Let’s be honest.

Have you ever found yourself in a relationship that mirrors the same pain, confusion, or fear you felt as a child? Do you struggle with self-worth, setting boundaries, or trusting others—even yourself? You’re not alone. And if you experienced sexual abuse as a child, there’s a very real chance that trauma is still shaping how you show up in the world today.

Between the ages of 5 and 12, I was molested by multiple predators. These were people I trusted—people who should have protected me. Instead, they shattered something inside me. For years, I wore a mask of strength, happiness, and success, all while carrying deep, unspoken wounds.

One of the most damaging myths in our culture is that time heals all wounds. The truth is—unaddressed trauma doesn’t disappear; it hides. It burrows itself deep into your nervous system, your thoughts, your behaviors, and your relationships. Until we decide to face it, it runs the show. Many times without even realizing this is happening.

How Unhealed Trauma Shows Up in Adulthood

If you were abused as a child, you may unconsciously:

  • Sabotage healthy relationships or choose toxic ones

  • Struggle with intimacy and trust

  • Battle feelings of worthlessness, shame, or guilt

  • Judge yourself harshly or over-identify with being a victim

  • Use perfectionism, people-pleasing, or control as coping mechanisms

  • Experience chronic anxiety, depression, or even physical illness

Many survivors also adopt powerful masks: achievement, hyper-independence, humor, anger, narcissism, even spiritual bypassing. I wore more than a few of those myself.

But masking pain doesn’t heal it. In fact, it often keeps us stuck in the very cycles we want to break.

Healing is Possible. If I Can Do It So Can You.

My turning point came when I was finally willing to stop pretending I was “fine” and get radically honest with myself. I began the slow, sacred work of peeling back the layers—grieving, forgiving, learning, and rebuilding.

That journey led me to develop the H.E.A.L. method—Harness Emotions with Awareness and Love. It’s a path I’ve walked, and now guide others through.

This program isn’t about revisiting every painful memory. It’s about:

  • Reconnecting with your inner child with compassion

  • Learning how to regulate your emotions, not repress them

  • Releasing shame and guilt and replacing them with self-acceptance

  • Rewriting the inner stories that no longer serve you

  • Building new patterns that support the life—and love—you truly deserve

You Can Break the Cycle

Healing from childhood sexual abuse or any trauma is not easy—but it is possible. I am living proof. And you don’t have to do it alone.

I created the H.E.A.L. program to reflect the very practices that supported my own transformation—especially the integration of Spirituality and Positive Psychology. These two elements aren’t just tools; they are foundations.

Spirituality helps you reconnect with your true self—the part of you that’s whole, worthy, and unbroken, no matter what happened in the past. It nurtures forgiveness, trust, and peace.

Positive Psychology gives you evidence-based strategies to build resilience, rewire your mindset, and develop emotional intelligence. It focuses on what’s right with you—not what’s wrong.

Together, these practices create a powerful bridge from surviving to thriving. They remind you of who you really are, and what you’re capable of becoming.

If you’re ready to stop just surviving and start thriving, I invite you to join me for the next “Awaken Your Inner Healer” workshop on Tuesday, June 17th, from 6pm to 7:30pm CST via Zoom. You’ll find a safe, supportive space to do the deep work, guided by someone who truly understands.

Let’s transform the pain of the past into the power of your future.

Ready to take the next step but prefer privacy?
Some people prefer to do the work in private 1-1 sessions with me and I totally respect that. I’ve made it easy for you to book a private session HERE.

Your voice matters. Your healing matters. Your joy is around the corner waiting.
